The Role of Virtue Ethics in Moral Decision Making
Virtue ethics starts with the notion that people of good character by and large do the right thing. It's really hard, like you said, to be a true rule follower, deontologist. You just bump into ways of making decisions that are intuitively in our culture were gonna be difficult to follow. An example I always use is Rosa Parks. When I'm looking for a person who is an exemplar of justice in the world, I often think of Rosa Parks. She didn't just get tired one day and refused to take a seat in the back of the bus.
