The Role of Knots in Microtextures

The knots have height and width of about 70 micrometers, and the fibers in each knot have a 1.7 micrometer radius. They absorb energy more efficiently to the tune of 92% better than any unknotted material. And since they absorb the energy, that means they're able to bend much more than microtextures made out of anything else.
