The Last Field Trials Were Wrong
In 19 50, field experiments were set up where rabbits in different areas were inoculated with the virus and then let loose to bring it back to the borrow. The first year, results weren't too impressive,. And the researchers in charge, francis ratcliffe and lionel bull said they didn't think there would be a long-term effect on rabbit numbers. But after another series of trials - this time more successful - scientists believe that miximatosis has finally worked.
