The Importance of Virtue in Aristotle
Cultivating virtue in Aristotle is a kind of self-excellence. It's not about the object, it's about the self. That line directly contrasts consequentialism. Becoming a full human being is articulating those obligations. For content flows out of rationality, right? And for an Aristotelian virtue ethicist, rationality is a critical component of what makes us who we are and what defines the virtues.
