The Dangers of Traveling in Car Accidents
During the period of Jim Crow segregation, hospitals were segregated. There were only about 200 African American hospitals in the United States up until the 1950s. And there are many instances of people being turned away from hospitals because they're black and sent to another hospital. So it was very dangerous for black families to go out on the road.
