What Is Cholothiasis?
The right upper cardin ultrasound is the first test to evaluate these patients and you may see features of cholothiasis status including gallbladder while thickening. You also have to be concerned about ascending colon gias with any patient with billiary obstruction. An MRCP which is a more sensitive MRI study of the billiary tract can look for a common bile duct stone if it's unclear from the initial ultrasound but just remember that the key thing with colodocolithiasis is that you're going to see liver injury at that level when the stones actually in the bile duct.
