Is There a Macro Implication of Solar?

Energy has always been a compromise between being cheap, clean and independent. I'm less worried about that for solar than I am for future technologies that are earlier stage because that international collaboration was so crucial for solar. If we say everything has to be bought in America, like that was originally in the Green New Deal resolution from 2018 or so, that would really slow things down. It's so concentrated in China right now that if we start to really expand production in other places like Vietnam and Malaysia, which are getting like 5% of their GDP of their exports are coming from selling solar panels.
