The Climate Crisis and the Pandemic Are Not Happening to Us, They're Happening for Us
The pandemic and the climate crisis for me are not happening to us, they're happening for us. As Paul Hawkins says, the pandemic is mourning sickness for a species that is pregnant with giving birth to a new way of being. And so one way of looking at it is we have the opportunity, if we take care of this pregnancy, to give birth to anew kinder, more a more responsible species than the one that we now are. If we can be humble enough to receive those messages from both the pandemic and from the climate crisis and probably every other crisis we have, we have a chance, I think, to create out of this breakdown.
