Most of my interactions with my dad and with my grandmother were through the phone. So it was kind of how our relationship was at this point as an adult. With her dementia, she just for the most part, looked out a window to look at like the birds and the trees and the cars that went past because that was all she could like really do. And you know, sometimes she would, I knew that sometimes she would cry. She'd be in a room by herself and she'd just start crying. But aside from being a comfort, she's scared. "I think I say I got you. Like I'm with you," he says.
