Lyca the Dog: A Heroic Dog
Lyca showed that a living creature could be alive in conditions of weightlessness. After her death, she became a Soviet celebrity. In a memory of this remarkable flight, special cigarettes and matches were produced in the USSR,. There were also special stamps and envelopes with Lyca's image. The monument was unveiled in 2008 in Moscow. It's two meters high. The lower part shows a rocket which turns into a palm of a hand and a dog stands in this palm.
