It has to do with conserving sort of your syllable count making make it easier to say. You always you say the thousand you would say meal quattro sientos or ciente dos but um because meal is just one syllable it's not that big a deal to save that one syllable yeah I just and uh numbers numbers are always a pain but you don't know why it's just something about it that makes it more difficult.
