Neural Networks - You Don't Tell Them What's Important

I think machine learning has a lot to offer just by virtue of the fact that you don't need to control as much. We're not dealing with parametric methods where we need to know everything that's going on in order to come up with a valid conclusion. And this is an area that I think we really might be able to unlock some knowledge and some information because one of the criticisms of research is that it's essentially performed in a vacuum.
