He has been looking into private company called GeoGroup and its new $33 million deal that it's entered into to provide health services to people who are in jail. Veronica Nelson was an indigenous woman who died in custody in early 2020. An inquest into her death found she should have been sent straight to hospital for treatment of drug withdrawal from heroin. The coroner referred prison contractor correct care Australasia to the director of public prosecutions.
