The Meritocratic Revolution

There was a meritocratic revolution, as I say, which gained power from the middle of the 19th century onwards. But it ran out of steam in the 70s and 80s because certain groups of people who were traditionally being successful managed to become successful yet again. So there's been something has been gone wrong with our system of social mobility but I don't think the way to advance or to address that problem is through group rights.
