The Importance of Being a High Priest

Jesus is going to be made a high priest. He's not a Levite. Only a Levite can and this author, brilliantly, calls back to a previous priesthood that predates the Levitical priesthood. This priesthood is the priesthood in the order of Melchizedek. Therefore we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet he did not sin.
