Well, and again, you're talking about image, you're talking about identity. You know, I'm 37 years around the speaking business and it's a trail of tears for the most part and to do it authentically without manipulation or without just pure modality where you become the robot. You know, I there are world famous speakers that I sat down and had lunch with who when I was having a conversation with them, I'd heard their talk 20 times in private conversation when I'm having the talk with them, they're giving me their stick. And I'm like, yeah, you know, what are we doing here? You know, I don't need to have lunch to do this. You know what I mean? I heard you already. Yeah, right. You know, that was already there. 20 times. What happened that you said six years ago, you kind of, things went upside down. What happened there?
Speaker 1
Well, I met this fellow called David Martin, an extraordinary man. That's why I'm in Charlottesville. And he does a series of workshops that are the deepest dives into who you are. And so I started doing some work with him. And David just asked me a whole lot of questions. And some of this I'll be talking about at the conference, not this story, but the core fears that run us and the stories that we tell ourselves. And he looked at me one day and he said, hmm, you've lived 62 years of your life based on the story of a two year old. You want to keep going? Well, I looked at him and I said a word that I shouldn't say on the podcast. And then I went, ah, no, ah, no. And then I had to start, I had to re-examine everything. And I'm still working on it. I would love to say I'm refining it, but I'm not. I'm still working on it. And an opportunity is just a reason in my life to actually really look at it again and face a whole lot of fears. And it's not just moving country again with no kind of set plan. It's even, it's deeper than that. So that's what triggered it. And I've been working on it ever since, not every day, you know, but I'm trying to stay really present because he'd said to me, you've never been present a minute in your life. Oh, have an eye. Oh, all right
