How to Identify Slow Growers and Stalwarts
Investing in an industry you are more familiar with than most other people is a really simple way to get an edge. Peter Lynch categorizes stocks into six categories, slow growers, stalwarts, fast growers, cyclicals, asset plays and turnarounds. Stalwarts are companies that are still mature but growing their top line revenue a bit faster maybe in the high single digits or lower double digits. Some companies today that I would categorize as a stalwart would be Coca Cola, Berkshire Hathaway, Dollar General and Walmart.
