ABC signs a league wide five year TV rights deal with the American Football League for eight and a half million dollars over five years. It was by far, far the single biggest sports rights TV deal in history at the time. The NFL sort of rebranded Sundays in America and turned it into a completely different way that people spend their time. So this was Roon Arlage's and ABC's first huge contribution to pro football in America or televising of sports.
