John writes, how do you go about learning all of the jazz standards? The world of jazz seems to be really based on knowing this set of standard songs. John: I would bring a fake book to a gig and there's nothing wrong with bringing a fake book for repertoire. There are definitely players out there that know like every tune," he says.
