Annie Albers: A Textile Artist's Journey

Annie and Joseph Albers taught at Black Mountain College for 16 years. By that point, both were acclaimed instructors as well as acclaimed artists. Annie enjoyed her first solo retrospective exhibition in 1949 at the Museum of Modern Art. In 1971, at the age of 83, he became the first living artist to have a solo retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. And even up to his final days, Joseph was actively pursuing new aims in his homage to the Square Series.
