LZ Granderson: The ultimate ground of Lot's righteousness is what we go on to read there in verse 16. He says the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand. And then it explains the Lord being merciful to him. LZ: We should respond to Lot with humility and even identify with him as recipients of God's mercy.
