The Axeman's Return

Mary Schneider suffered a head wound and several broken teeth in the attack. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl days later. When she re-emerged from an opiate-induced fog, she had no helpful information for detectives. The only detail she could make out of her attacker was his hulking shadow. Detectives began to believe that Mary Schneider's attacker was just an ordinary burglar who'd panicked.
