When I was a boy, I was brought up in the Church of England. One of the cardinal sins which one could commit was to laugh in church. In all things spiritual there is lightness and therefore a kind of frivolity. The angels fly because they take themselves lightly. And if that must be true of the angels, how much more true of the Lord of the angels? So from his view, the world is fundamentally not serious. It is sincere and beyond that to go on to the higher mystery of his insight.
