Is There Such a Thing as Competitive Threats as China?
The Belt and Road Initiative is not a plan to plant the seeds of autocracy everywhere in ultimately Smother America. I would think that from America's strategic point of view, that's potentially a kind of asset for the US. But any American engagement with the region cannot be conducted along zero-sum lines. Asking nations to choose one way or the other is not going to end well.
