Critius and Athens

Critius was a brilliant intellectual and an avowed atheist who had been trained by the great rhetorician and sophist gorgius. At one point, he was in the inner circle of socrates, along with his cousin, plato, xenophon, and various other bright young athenian men of the upper classes. He wished to limit participation in the government of any kind and citizenship rights to only three thousand out of the entire athenian adult male population. That's also about how many spartiates there were at the end of the war.
