I don't think anybody has ever suggested that it was covered in gold. You could have put a thin coating of gold on it. It probably wouldn't last that long. And so there was a certain amount of sea spray which would have corroded it. So I think, you know, it would have looked green and it would have been seen from some distance out to sea. A kind of beacon to welcome boats into the harbor as well as a symbol of, yes, look, we can stand up to ourselves against the Macedonians.
