The Roman Empire's Conquest of Gaul
Rome's economy was built upon conquering territory and capturing slaves. As Rome's legions expanded, the work force pated, as did large chunks of their income. And britannia was a rich and fertile land ripe for invasion. The druids had become one of the few international structures in the roma world that was not under roman control. So it was in the empire's best interests to insure that never happened again.
