The Celts and the Romans in Ancient Greece
Celtic tribes from gaul crossed the alps and travelled down into northern italy, where they sacked the early city of rome around three 91 b c. The romans basically viewed them as savage barbarians and as a lingering threat in the north. Some celts moved to the east, into the balkans, and eventually to macedon and thrace in modern day greece. Alexander the great fought a brief skirmish against a celtic tribe in the danube valley region before he moved on to anatolia and the middle east and eventually india.
