The Importance of Having a Touchstone in Editing
Do you think that's your time sort of interviewing people is analogous to editing in the sense that you're kind of directing someone else to write or talk, but if you kind of over impose yourself it can become quite flat. Do you see it as a similar dynamic or not really? Yeah I think that you need an interlocutor, I think you need a touchstone and whether that touchstone becomes overbearing and tyrannical like me, or whether they're just more subtly giving prompts and responses,. "I really believe in the editorial process, I don't, and this again is a slight problem with modern publishing," he says.
