John Brennan's Security Clearance Isn't Required Anymore.
John Brennan at this point in his career doesn't need a security clearance. The only reason he even still had one was so that subsequent administrations could bring him back into consult with him if they needed to get some context. First Amendment law kind of lets you get in not merely on the basis of an action, adverse action actually taken against you, but also of actions that might chill speech. It's standing can be very forgiving to the extent that you're similarly situated to somebody who has threatened action may chill speech.
