James Bond was ostracized at school after his friend George Western left to join the Navy. He borrowed money from a classmate and headed to hide in his grandmother's yard. The headmaster refuses to admit him because he'd proven himself to be, quote, a rebel. His parents hired a private tutor for their son who described him as a wayward pupil.
