The idea that insulin stimulates amino acid uptake into the muscle is very debated. There's contrary evidence to that idea showing in muscle cells that indeed it does not facilitate. But insulin is necessary to defend protein in tissue, including muscle. It is telling the muscle, don't break down because insulin doesn't want to break anything down. And I would absolutely get on anabolic steroids, like testosterone analogs.
