The Covenant of Works Is a Problem for the Covenant of Grace
Bart argues that the covenant of works interrupts the historical flow of the covenant of grace. He makes much of coxes second art on which i refer to earlier, which includes the doctrine of the pactum salutus. For bart this is an interruption of grace. It interrupts the programme of grace that god meant to lay out. Everything is grace, he says, for coxeus, from eternity past to eternity future,. with this foreign concept of works thrown into the middle. In other words, the Covenant of works is a misfit in god's plan of grace from eternity to eternity.
