The Importance of a Relationship

Peter Wong is the son of a Chinese-American father and Dominican mother. He grew up in New York City with his family, but later moved out on his own. As an adult he reconnected with his stepfather, who had served time for drug possession. Peter felt there was "a piece missing" from where Poppy lived in him; that's what led to this book.
