There's a lot of pressure on the government of india to shift its tancs. But as of now, there seems to be little indication that India is going to be vocal about this. I know that privately, many officials and politicians are not happy with what russia has done. There is a sense in which people feel that it's perhaps not india's place to verbalize or to vocalize that kind of criticism. They go back to the days of the soviet union. Why is that relationship so strong and so deep? I think history is an important factor. 75 years of extremely close political, economic and military to military co operation weighs very heavily on the mind
