Can You Get a Copyright for Something That an AI Generates?
The first question that needs to be answered when you're talking about AI is, can you get a copyright for something that an AI generates? And the answer to that seems to be no, you can't. The courts have said that a work that is solely created by artificial intelligence is not a work of individual authorship because no human was involved and therefore they were not able to get a copyright. We've seen some cases where an individual actually created a comic book based on images that were generated by AI. But it's conceivable that a court might come to a different conclusion.
