Sleep and Samadhi Are Similar
"I was beginning a non-being, what Buddha calls anatta," he said. "It was like when a woman goes into labor, when a child is to be born and the woman suffers tremendous pain." He went to sleep near about age 12 or 1 in the night but that day it was impossible to remain awake. Samadhi means you are fully awake and asleep also - every cell of the body totally relaxed.
