Animacy and Obviation in a Discourse
In Ojibwe, the subject and object follow a hierarchy of persons. Obviation represents something that happens in all languages but it's just has chosen a different mechanism to say who's on first and what's on second. The language family that everyone thinks of when they're dealing with obviation is the all gankian languages.
