How to Claim Social Security Benefits Early

You can claim benefits as early as 62, but that's totally up to you. The government's not going to come and tell you, hey, claim your benefits. My number one rule is if you plan to keep working, don't claim Social Security early. It makes no sense. Wait until your full retirement age or later. You may temporarily lose some or all of your benefits if you make too much money.
