The Gift of Spelling

There's a lot of misinformation out there about charlotte mason's dictation, and it's very confusing for mums. She said that the gift of spelling depends upon the power the eye possesses to take, in a photographic sense, a detailed picture of a word. And this is a power and habit which must be cultivated in children from the first so we see how dictation really flows out of copywork. So again, we incrementally increase the length and complexity of their dictation. I find it helpful to ways choose a dictation from a book that is below their ability to read because writing follows reading in development.
