New data from ice cores drilled in 2011 show a dramatic rise in temperatures there. Since 1995, the island has been 2.7 degrees F or 1.5 degrees C hotter than its 20th century average. The warming spike also mirrors a sudden rise in the amount of water running off from Greenland's melting ice. A unique new solar installation can be found on the Lake Mutsi Dam in Switzerland.
