There is a genetic disorder where individuals retain some of those sterols and there there are reason they can develop cardiovascular disease but this is extremely rare. It's also going to happen when they consume plant foods so like nuts and oils as well. But from what I know in my chats with Dr. Jenkins it's not something that we're super concerned about right now and there's no guidelines saying that these specific people shouldn't take plant sterols.
