Introduction

Last week we met Balaam, a seer of the gods. We also met Balaak, the king of Moab who hired Balaam to more or less reverse the promise that the Lord had made his people all the way back as Genesis 12. So now we're walking into the third oracle of Balaam where Balaak hopes this time he's going to get a curse out of BalaAm on the people of Israel.
