The bomb was codenamed Little Boy, and according to the rationale of the United States High Command, it was a tool used to effectively end World War II. Three days later, the U.S. military dropped another bomb on another Japanese city Nagasaki. Together, both bombs killed over 100,000 people, most of them within seconds.
