Is Humility a Potential Source of Strength?

The way into a story for me is usually finding a character who is vulnerable. And i think that desperation is like the greatest motivator um. It also it forces you as a story teller to know what a character is desperate for, and therefore what you are either afraid of or hopeful for. The idea of desperation is a motivator. I think that's incredibly powerful. M i want to ask you, because your book is all about rethinking, do you feel like there is a fundamental barrier to rethinking?
