The St. Valentine's Day Massacre
The St. Valentine's Day Massacre took place in Chicago on February 14, 1929. Al Capone was not linked to the killings but newspapers still blamed him for them. For many Chicagoans, the gruesome killings were the final straw. A delegation of city bigwigs went to D.C. to meet with President Hoover about bringing down Capone.
