Is There a Psychic Animal?

Every language on earth is packed with metaphors that anthropomorphize animals or see the line between man and his animal nature as blood. In gay culture, large, hairy, rugged, stereotypically masculine men are referred to as bears. If you're a skilled lover, one might say you're a tiger between the sheets. Pro-war, draught-dodging hypocrites are referred to chicken hawks. Outcasts of a group are often known as the black sheep. We've lost our nature, and this feeling of loss pervades all that we do when we find ourselves out of balance from nature.
