Howard Jacobson writes brilliantly but he also speaks brilliantly I mean if speaking of talking was an Olympic sport you know he would be a gold medalist because he speaks in these perfectly formed paragraphs and a phrase the structure of every thought anyway it is a joy to listen to him on on any subject.
