We Love Dogs More Than We Love Human Beings

I think we probably do love dogs in some ways, maybe even more than we love human beings. And the thing that was just so hard for me, ultimately, about merle is you'll just never see them again. I wonder if some of it is because our relationship with dogs is wordless. Your relationship is all based on look and touch and hearing and so much that we can't put into words. The closest i felt is when my children were babies. It's the same thing that before they could speak, and you have a really different relationship.
