In terms of isolation, one of the big differences in the two nations over the last 30 years has been the kind of solids or somewhat cautious, but very determined rise of China. The Russian system seems to rest pretty much in the hands of one man, and maybe a handful of people around him. So it's different in that sense. At the same time, the way in which the Chinese system has come to operate has involved a concentration of decision making power even greater than what existed previously.
